The effect of different row spacings on yield and yield components of some soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] genotypes under second crop conditions in Harran plain

The study was conducted in order to determine the effects of the number of plants per unit area on yield and yield components in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). In this research was carried out in the GAP Agricultural Research Institute -Gündaş Station- according to the randomized complete block design split-plot arrangement. In the study, five different soybean varieties were used as material and three different row spacings were tested. The distances between rows formed the main plots, and the varieties formed the subplots. Plant height, first pod height, number of plant branches, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight, harvest index, yield per decare, oil and protein ratios, and oil yield per decare were investigated in the study. The lowest plant height of 50.25 cm was obtained from plantings of Lider variety in one row at 70 cm, and the highest plant height of 86.25 cm was obtained from plantings of three rows at 70 cm of Ataem-7 variety. The first pod height values varied between 7.5 cm to 20.25 cm (Lider-70 cm 3 rows, Gapsoy16-70 cm 3 rows, respectively). The plant branch number values varied between 1.6 to 2.9 branches/plant (3 rows in Gapsoy16-70 cm, and one row in 70 cm of Ataem-7 variety, respectively). The number of pods per plant varied between 28.5 to 37.9 pods/plant (2 rows at Gapsoy16 70 cm and 3 rows at Adasoy-70 cm). It was determined that seed number per plant ranged from 111.25 to 162.25 seeds/plant (2 rows at Gapsoy16 70 cm, 2 rows at Adasoy-70 cm). The seed yield was obtained between 175.33 to 298.00 kg/da (1 row at Adasoy-70 cm, 3 rows of Lider-70 cm) under second crop conditions in Harran Plain.
