Abstract (EN)

Hepatitis B virus is a DNA virus and belongs to the Hepadnaviridae family. According to the World Health Organization, in 2019, 296 million people have been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B infection and it is responsible for 820,000 deaths. Todate, in he gold Standard method of evaluation of liver damage in infected patients is stil liverbiopsy. Since it is an invasive procedure, has a subjective evaluation process, requires hospitalization with trained staff, and has a financial burden alternative methods are needed for the evealuation of liver damage. Additionally, serious complications of liver biopsy can be observed. Therefore, practical, rapid, and relatively inexpensive methods are being sought for the evaluation of liver fibrosis an dhistological activity. In our study, some inflammatory markers including NLR, PLR and MPV obtained from whole blood count analysis were used for estimation of liver damage in chronic hepatitis B patients , which is wellknownto be complicated with chrironic inflammation. For this purpose, the data of 119 patients, who have been followed up in our hospital with diagnosis of chronic hepatitis B infection and underwent liver biopsy, were analyzed retrospectively. According to our results, age, NLR and MPV were foundto be similar in the low and high histological activity groups, while the viralload was higher and the mean PLR was lower in the "high HAI" group compared to the"low HAI" group (respectively pvalues =0,219; 0,125; 0,135; <0,001; 0,009). In the low and high fibrosis groups, viral load, NLR and MPV were foundto be similar, while the age was higher and the mean PLR was lower in the "highfibrosis" group compared to the "lowfibrosis" group (respectivelypvalues =0,105; 0,153; 0,209; 0,015; 0,001).As a result, the PLR demonstrates an inverse relationship with the histological activity and, more strongly, with fibrosis parameters of liverbiopsy, and is promising in predicting these results of biopsy.
