Abstract (EN)

In this study, hemovigilance module trainings; It was conducted as a pre-test-post-test randomized controlled study to evaluate the effect of nurses on blood and blood components transfusion and hemovigilance knowledge level. Study; Between April and July 2022, 125 nurses (62 controls, 63 interventions) working in the clinic and intensive care units where blood transfusion was performed at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital (GEAH) and Ankara Atatürk Sanatorium Training and Research Hospital (AASEAH) were included in the study. The module trainings and data collection tools used in the study were prepared in line with the literature and expert opinions. The nurses in the intervention group were given four-hour, five-module training on hemovigilance using interactive methods. No intervention was given to the nurses in the control group. Data on nurses in the intervention and control groups were collected through a data collection form on sociodemographic, blood transfusion and hemovigilance system. Number, percentile, t test, analysis of variance, Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, Chi-Square analysis, Mc-Nemar test were used to evaluate the data. When the pretest and posttest findings of the hemovigilance module training given to the nurses in the study were evaluated, it was concluded that the knowledge levels of the nurses increased. There is no significant difference in the knowledge levels of the nurses in the control group in the pre-test and post-test stages. It was determined that while n=4 of the nurses in the intervention group had sufficient knowledge in the pre-test stage, n= 58 people had sufficient knowledge in the post-test stage and n= 43 people had sufficient knowledge in the follow-up test performed after 4 weeks (p<0.05). Apart from this, no statistically significant relationship was found between gender, years of work in the department and total years of work, and knowledge score averages. As a result, in this study, it was found that the module trainings given to nurses were effective in increasing the nurses' knowledge of blood transfusion and hemovigilance (p=0.001). It is suggested that regular training will be effective in minimizing transfusion errors, increasing the awareness of nurses about hemovigilance and increasing their knowledge levels positively. Keywords: Hemovigilance, module training, blood transfusion, blood and blood components, nursing.
