The reflections of the political and social developmentsof the period on the Tafsir of Hülâsatü'l-Beyân Fî Tefsiri'l-Kur'an

In this study, we have discussed the work Hülâsatü'l-Beyân Fî Tefsîri'l-Kur'an written by Konyalı Mehmed Vehbi Efendi and the reflections on his work of political and social developments in his period. In the first part of our study, we have discussed the education of the writer, his dutios and his political opinions to understand the work better. Also we have emphosized the frame of mind and world-view which are effective on commenting the work. We have also touched on political developments of this period. We have mentioned proverbs and idioms used among people. The writer hos made unknown subjects clear in his work by using analogy. Also we have discussed analogies the writer used in his work. Because these analogies made people love his work in this period. In the second part of our study, we have discussed social developments which are effective on the work. In this part, in that period, it is emphosized how the westernization, architecture, technology, medicine, biology, religious problems and moral problems reflect on the work. Also his study includes the opnions of writer about women and veiling, shoria and interest which were discussed and commented in many different way in every era. Our study also includes the writers opinions about being holiday on Fridays which became moot point in his period. It is deduced that Vehbi Efendi was influenced substantially from social events in his period. In the last part of our study, we have dwelled on political events of his period and their reflections on the work. We have mentioned effects of Balkan war and World war I on writers work. The writer substantially mentioned about soldiering in his work. So it is observed that he tried suggorting this issue with verses from Koran. The reason of his effort is wars in his period. Also we have touched on how state –related issues reflect on writer's work and we have mentioned the place of national struggle in the work. As a result we have deduced that Vehbi Efendi was affected widely by social message to people and statesmen. That is the reason why he discussed the problems of his period in his work.
