The problem of husn-qubh according to İbnü'l-Hümam

In our study titled " The Problem of Husn-Qubh According to İbn al-Hümam", the concepts of "husn-qubh", which are discussed by different disciplines in the history of Islamic thought and express moral judgments, we tried to determine the thoughts, differences and similarities between Ibn al-Humam's views in classical kalam thought who lived in the 9th Hijri century, owner of valuable works in kalam, fiqh, hadith and other sciences, with the theological methods he developed, who were influential on the Muslim thought of both the period he lived and the following periods. Our thesis consists of an introduction and two main chapters. In the first chapter, we tried to draw a general description of the issue based on the concepts of husn and qubh, to understand the origin of the issue by considering the history of the issue of husn-kubuh, and to discuss at what points it is a matter of discussion in kalam. We examined the approaches of Mu'tazila, Ash'ari and Maturidi theological schools on the issue, their divergence points and the arguments they presented to support their own interpretations. In the second chapter, the source of husn and qubh, the subjects of ta'dil-tacwir, guidance-distraction, which we think may be related to husn-qubh, we presented the author's views by emphasizing the understanding of reason-transmission, will-action, righteousness-aslah, death and proposal, which are among the factors affecting Ibn al-Humam's views on the issue. In the conclusion of our thesis, we concluded by making an assessment that Ibn al-Humam, unlike Mu'tazilite and Ash'ari scholars, followed a moderate path that brought together reason and transmission.
