Analyzing the insights' of students according to some variables about determinant factors of success in maths at the second phase of primary education (A sample of Diyarbakır province)

The aim of this study is analyzing the effects of success factors of maths in second phase of Primary Education with respect to students? insights according to some defined variables. General Linear Model was used in the research. For the sample of the research, several schools were randomly defined from a few center districts of (Bağlar, Kayapınar, Sur, Yenişehir) Province of Diyarbakir. The sample consist of 872 Student (Female:443, Male:429) who choosen from Second phase of Primary Education. Data were collected by using ?Personal Information Form? with 8 article and ?Insights on the determinant factors of students success in Maths? Duman (2006) with 25 article scale survey. The scale consists of five sub- dimension which are ?attitude?, ?method?, ?family?, ?teacher? and ?environment?. ? Cronbach Alpha? Reliability Coefficient were found to be .80 in Duman (2006) scale. In this research application, ?Cronbach Alpha? reliability coefficient were found to be .79. Percentage, standart deviation, Kruskal Wallis test and U test were used to analyze the data that were collected by survey. Analysis were done by ?SPSS 16.0? statistic package programme.As a result of the study it is found that the determinant factors of student success are not differentiate with respect to student?s insights in second phase of Primary Education according to student gender and teacher gender variables. According to class level, maths success and taking pre-school education variables, meaningfull differences were found in ?Attitude?, ?method? , ?family? and ?teacher? sub-dimensions of the scale, but meaningfull differences could not found in ?environment? dimension. According to parents education variables meaningfull differences were found in ?method? , ?family? , and ?environment? sub demension of the scale. According to ?family income? variable in ?attitude? , ?family?, ?method?, and ?environment sub-dimensions meaningful differences were found.
