The colonial policy of England on America (1620-1774)

Europeans has discoveries that brings forth great changes at the map of Old World after the developments at geography, tehcnology, and trade in Europe. The most important one is the discovery of America which was named as New World by Cristopher Colombus in 1492. During the time, political persecution, religional intolerance, wish for more richness and adventurous life resulted in migration to America. The way opened by Spanish and Portuguese in 16th century followed by all European States and they also started to migrate to America. European States followed a foreign policy that based on merchantalism theory. Europeans, especially England colonized New World as soon as possible thinking need for raw material and valuable mine. England colonized North of the continent and expanded its territories. In the mid of 18th century, there were thirteen colonies here. England taxed colonies to cover expenses of the Seven Years War between 1756-1763 but colonies reacted against it. The ?Declaration of Independency? has accepted by colonies on 4 July 1776 and so declared that thirteen colonies separated from England. This was a kind of revolt against colonization. Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted and thus more democratic regime has been established. In addition to these, thirteen colonies constituted United States of America that is now balance of power opposing Europe.
