Our treatment results of femur intertrochanteric fractures with pertorchanteric fixator

In our study we assessed 16 patients operated because of femur intertrochanteric fracture between 2007-2013 that we can make final examination. There were 10(%62.5) male 6 (%37.5) female patients included into this study.Patients were between 37 to 93 years old.2 of the patients admitted to emergency after trafic accident and 14 after simple fall.9 patients(%56.25) had left and 7 patients(43.75) had right femur intertrocanteric fracture. One of the patient treated with pertrokanteric external fixator deceased 7 months after device removal and another one deceased after 9 months. Mean follow up was 11.5 months(7-24 months). Foster criteria was used for functional and anatomical evaluation.Functional outcomes was perfect in 10 (62.5) patients,good in 4 (%25) patients,moderate in one patient and poor in one patient.Anotomical outcomes was perfect in 7(%43.75) patients,good in 7 patients,moderate in one patient and poor in one patient. Our results show that pertochanteric external fixator is a reliable treatment choice for appropiriate patiens which is easy to use and has a good sucess rate.
