Eveluation of hadiths related to suicide

Our thesis is about investigating proofs and texts of hadiths associated with suicides in terms of Kutub-i Tis'a (Nine Hadith Books); and it consists of four parts as introduction, two main parts and conclusion. As a result of scanning the resources we researched, we found that there are six hadiths about suicide. All these hadiths do not touch the same subject in terms of content. While some of them deal with different subjects about committing suicide, the others mention about different suicide cases. Of the six hadiths that we searched for, in the first and the second hadiths that we handled, it is stated that the one who commits suicide will go into the hell and will suffer anguish the same as he committed suicide. In the third hadith, it is reported that the funeral prayer of the one who committed suicide was not performed by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH); and the fourth hadith deals with a person who participated in the war together with the Messenger of Allah and then he committed suicide. The fifth hadith studies the after death status of the person of previous communities who committed suicide; on the other hand, the sixth hadith imply that the person who committed suicide would enter the paradise. The hadiths were narrated by the narrators as follows: the first hadith by Abu Huraira, the second by Sâbit b. Dahhâk, the third by Câbir b. Semure, the fourth by Abu Huraira, Sehl b. Sa'd es-Saîdî and Abdurrahman b. Abdullah b. Kab, the fifth by Cündüb b. Abdullah el Becêli, the sixth by Câbir b. Abdullah al-Ensârî. After general information about committing suicide was given place in our thesis, the hadith sources where the narrations belonging to six hadiths were searched and determined. The proofs and texts of hadiths were gathered together. Proofs schemes for the collected narrations were created. After the proof schemes were formed, the narrations were applied proof criticize. The status of narrators apart from the companions of the prophet was reported in terms of refutation and amendment. And then the authenticity of narrations were evaluated in terms of proofs. After the aforementioned hadiths were studied within the context of proof criticize, their texts were also investigated. We formed a common text for narrations that dealt with the same case or subject. We investigated whether committing suicide was dealt in Qur'an. We presented the hadiths texts together with other hadiths which were in connection with Qur'an and the matter of committing suicide. In addition, the comments of some hadith commentators and some scholars were given place. We established the use of these narrations in exegetics and fiqh sciences. Finally, carrying out a general evaluation about hadiths dealing with committing suicide, we mentioned about the results we achieved.
