Abstract (EN)
The SARS-CoV-2 or Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak was brought on by severe acute respiratory syndrome. The goal of the present study is to investigate the effect of SARS-CoV-2 on the levels of hepatic enzymes and other biochemical markers. Patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in AL-Najaf city/Iraq between February 7 and May 7, 2022, had their clinical features and laboratory results collected. 80 individuals with COVID-19 had their serum collected, along with 40 samples used as controls. In the patient group, IgG and IgM titers were assessed. Liver enzymes ALT, AST, ALP, total bilirubin (TBIL), ferritin, C.R.P, D.Dimer, and IL-6 were analyzed in two groups. In the study, it was found that a highly significant difference between G.O.T, G.P.T, and ALP, and a significant difference between TSB and indirect TSB, but there is no significant difference between direct TSB in different groups. As for the other parameters (ferritin, CRP, D.Dimer, and IL-6) were highly significant differences between all of them in different groups. The results showed that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 patients have aberrant hepatic enzyme activity, which may be associated with virus replication in the liver or drug-induced liver harm caused by antiviral medication.
