Abstract (EN)
The word stress, meaning disaster, trouble, sorrow, grief, misfortune in the previous centuries, literally expresses mental tension. Individual factors such as personality, age and gender, family life, organizational factors such as excessive workload, time limitation, human relations, tight and close control, anxiety created by responsibilities, difficulties encountered in daily life, hectic life, external factors such as wars, natural disasters can cause stress. Stress is an individual concept. The important thing is the perceptions and reactions of individuals to events that cause stress. With physical exercises, breathing techniques, time management, problem solving techniques, proper nutrition, relaxation techniques, biological feedback and social support, each individual can cope with stress by applying unique methods. The concept of motivation comes from word to act and it is defined as a strong desire we feel within us to realize a job. The concepts of stress and motivation are closely related. Stress creates tension in people, increases health problems, loss of motivation and performance. In this study, a questionnaire study was conducted with 149 nurses working in the Farabi Hospital of Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon province between February and March 2020 in order to examine the work stress and motivation levels. As a result of the research, differences in the stress and motivation levels experienced by the employees according to their socio-demographic characteristics were determined.
