Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of dysfunctional beliefs, impulsivity and emotion regulation in internet gaming disorder. In first stage of the study, in order to measure dysfunctional beliefs towards online games Modified Online Cognition Scale was adapted to Turkish culture. For this purpose online data collected from 235 people who were older than 14 years. Statistical analyzes revealed that Modified Online Cognition Scale is a valid and reliable tool in Turkish culture. For later stages, 175 participant older than 14 years included to study. In this stage, to identify variables that predict internet gaming disorder stepwise regression analysis was performed. When the results were examined, it was found that diminished impulse control, distraction and general sense of comfort which are sub factors of dysfunctional beliefs significantly predict internet gaming disorder. In addition to this, it was seen that attentional impulsivity subfactors of impulsivity has statisticaly significant predictor of internet gaming disorder. Also, refocus on planning which are sub factor of emotion regulation has statisticaly significant effect on internet gaming disorder. These findings were discussed within the framework of theories and models of internet gaming disorder.
