Izmir, Denizli, Aydın and Muğla Provincial Education Directorates employees who work programme development and function some problems

Curriculum development, evalution, and revision studies have been carried out by The National Education Ministery in Turkey since 1923. In other words, even though the educational studies have been carried out, an approval has to be obtained from The National Education Ministery to implement these studies (Demirel, 1999). As far as it can be seen, curricula which have been implemented in schools from different socio-economic statues are in need for being revised in the light of socio-economic variables and regional needs. For conducting school based curriculum development, National Education Ministry directorships and sub-directorships need to build up a bridge between schools and Ministry. For these reasons, the purpose of this study is to investigate the functions of the staff working as curriculum development workers and experts in the directorships of education in İzmir, Denizli, Aydın, and Muğla Districts in Turkey and their problems they have exprerienced. This study has been designed using qualitative research methods. In this study, semi-structered interview forms and formal documents will be used as data gathering tools. The semi stcuctured interview form was developed after pilot study which has been runned an officer working in National Ministery directorship. The semi structered interview form comprised of 10 fundamental questions and 7 probing questions. Document analysis were focused on formal correspondents which have been carried out in 2009-2010 academic year between National Ministery directorships and the other institutions. Typologic analysis and descriptive analysis were conducted in data analysing process.Key words: School based curriculum development, national education directorships , curriculum development and curriculum worker.
