Activities of public classrooms and courses branches and library and publishing branches of Izmir public houses

After the national struggle, the new regime of the country became a Republic. After the country was established from the beginning, a new and rapid change process was started in every field. One of the most important institutions guiding this process has been Public Houses. Halkevler was opened on February 19, 1932, initially based in 14 provinces, and then expanded further, spreading to remote corners of the country. In this research, the activities of librarianship and publishing branches and public lecture halls and courses branches were evaluated during the period from the establishment of Izmir public houses to the year 1951, which activities were carried out by the people of the region in accessing and reading books, and the contributions of the people of the region with the courses opened. Public houses constitute the universe of the research. The sample of the research is Izmir public houses. This city was chosen because Izmir is one of the three most populous cities in Turkey, which is of socio-economic importance. The fact that a study on this topic has not been conducted before and the opening of public houses in many districts in Izmir has made the study important. In our research, the findings obtained by document analysis were analyzed by content analysis method. The research will serve to uncover new information and documents related to the educational activities of librarianship and publication, public lecture halls and courses branches of Izmir public houses.
