Abstract (EN)

Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is an economically important plant, and our country ranks second in melon production globally. Numerous transcriptomic studies have examined melon under different abiotic stress conditions. However, there is still a lack of reports on the transcriptomic analysis of melon under heat stress. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the transcriptomic changes in melon under heat stress. Transcriptomic studies enable a better understanding of the molecular basis of many complex traits and functions in plants. In the context of this thesis, melon was sequenced using the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform. The resulting paired-end reads were mapped to the melon genome, counted, and differentially expressed genes were identified using various tools available on the Galaxy platform. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the expression levels of 788 genes increased and the expression of 134 genes decreased under heat stress. Upon reviewing the literature, the differentially expressed genes were found to exhibit similar responses under other abiotic stresses. Gene ontology and KEGG pathway analyses were performed, and the functional annotation of the identified genes was completed. The information obtained from this research will provide valuable insights for future studies.
