Abstract (EN)
There is a strong relation between literature and history. Writers reconstruct the events that happened in history by straining them through their dreams. If we examine Turkish history, we can see that Turks went into many wars. Hence, one of the most important events in the recent history of Turks is Cyprus Peace Operation. This operation, which aimed to stop the atrocities and massacres towards the Turks living in Cyprus, is reflected upon the genres in Turkish Literature of War such as poetry, novel, story, drama, diary, memoir, saga, and letter. In this study, we will put emphasis on letters which is one of the genres mentioned above. In addition to this, feelings, thoughts and dreams related to the war were put into words through letters by both soldiers in the front and civilians in the hinterland. There isn't any other study examining Cyprus Peace Operation letters in the literature of war methodology. Here, the study "Analyzing Cyprus Peace Operation letters in the context of Turkish literature of war." will try to cover the blank in this field. The press of the era between 20th of July, 1974 (first day of the operation) and 13th of February, 1975 (founding of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus) was inspected in order to detect the letters. The letters, which were acquired as a result of these inspections, were classified and examined in the context of their form and structure, content, language and tone. When we look at the letters in general, it is mentioned that the reason for this operation is the Greek Cypriot oppressions, atrocities and massacres towards the Turkish Cypriots. Besides, the description, the result and the importance of the operation and feelings, thoughts and dreams about the war of both soldiers in the front and civilians in the hinterland appeared in the mentioned letters.
