Association of serum leptin levels and leptin rs 7799039 (2548 G/A) gene polymorphism with the extent and severity of coronary artery disease

Not all of the coronary events occur in (persons/individuals) who have traditional risk factors. In a large number of recent studies, the relation between two adipokines which are adiponektin and leptin that are released from the adipose tissue and CVD risk is examined. In order to examine this relation , 51 acute coronary syndrome patients who applied to emergency service or cardiology policlinics and who are performed coronary angiography, 51 patients who have stabil coronary artery disease, 50 patients who have normal coronary arteries are added to our study. Serum adiponectin and leptin levels are found to be similar in acute coronary syndrome, stabil coronary artery disease and normal coronary artery groups. According to our thesis serum total adiponectin and leptin levels do not give any information about the severity and extent of CAD. Also we studied on the LEP rs 7799039 gene polymorphisms. We found a relation between AA genotype and hyperlipidemia.Also we found a relation between GA genotype and vessel scoring system and gensini score which tell us the severity and extent of CAD. Individuals who have GA genotype had significantly higher gensini score and had two or three and more vessel disease than the individuals who have other genotypes (AA, GG).
