Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Objective: Chronic ITP(Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia), is an autoimmune disease that has significant effects on human life. Eltrombopag is an oral, non-peptid, thrombopoietin-receptor agonist that stimulates thrombopoesis and leading to increase platelet counts. It is a novel treatment for patients with Chronic Refractory Immune Thrombocytopenia. Methods: 8 patient with Chronic Refractory Immune Thrombocytopenia (5 males;3 females) were enrolled in this study. Patiens mean ages of 44 years (range,22-63). All patients were refractory to several lines of treatments of Immune Thrombocytopenia. All of them were splenectomized. Patients were treated with TPO –R agonist eltrombopag ( 25-50-75 mg) . Results: We follow up the patients for 6 months. In 7 patients, we achieved normal platelet counts after eltrombopag treatment without any bleeding symptoms. Only in one patient, platelet count couldn't increase over 30 x109/L. We didn't observe any complication during the treatment. Headache was major adverse effect. Conclusion: Our observation indicate that eltrombopag is an effective, confident and well tolareted treatment for Chronic Refractory Immune Thrombocytopenia.
