Empathic approach in the qur'an and sunnah

Allah Ta'ala aimed to educate people psychologically, sociologically and morally both through his divine messages and through the prophets he sent as a guide. The general moral virtues expected from people as a result of this training are; being tolerant, conscientious, merciful, forgiving, just, generous and altruistic. In order for an individual to apply these virtues in a healthy way in his life, he must understand the person or being he is facing. What is meant here with the word ' understanding' is to empathize, in other words, putting oneself in the place of the person or entity, in the face of the situation. In our research, the concept of "empathy", which provides the formation of these moral virtues, the examples of this concept in the Qur'an and Sunnah are discussed from the perspective of the "Psychology of Religion". In this context, empathic expressions in the Quran and Sunnah have been tried to be expressed, explained and interpreted with psychological concepts. In the last century, with the influence of modernity and technological developments, compliance with the moral principles of the Qur'an and the Prophet (pbuh) has gradually decreased, therefore, individualism and selfishness (egoism) began to spread in all areas. It should not be forgotten how important it is to have an empathetic approach to people's attitudes and behaviors in the solution of these psychological and social problems in society, and the socio-cultural contribution of reinforcing this understanding with religious beliefs. For this reason, awareness will be created in the society on this issue by examining and revealing the empathic approaches in the Qur'an and Sunnah.
