Abstract (EN)
This thesis study entitled "Changing Nationalist Discourses and New Types of Nationalism in the Age of Globalization: The Case of Izmir", draws attention to the existence of "new nationalist discourses" and the "reproduction of existing types of nationalism" within the context of globalization. Examining these changing and re-produced nationalism types is important in terms of understanding the place and functioning of nationalist ideology as both a unifying and separating force in inter-group relations. Hence, this thesis seeks to identify the commonly circulating types and discourses in contemporary Turkey and to what extent these discourses represented and reproduced by the political parties in the country. The study is conducted in İzmir and covers the main political parties represented in the Turkish Parliament. KEY WORDS: Globalization, Nationalism, Political Parties in Turkey,Nationalist Typologies, Ġzmir
