Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of board games on the visual perception development of 60 - 66 months old children. (age, gender, duration of school attendance, number of siblings, presence of board games at home) The quasi-experimental model is used in the planned study group to be implemented in the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year. The study group consists of nineteen students, aged 60-66 months, attending a private foundation preschool education institution affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the province of Istanbul. Ten students were assigned to the experimental group, whereas nine were to the control group. Accordingly, it was examined whether there was a difference between the Frostig Visual Perception Scale Pre-test scores of the children in the experimental and control groups before the application, and it was seen that there was no significant difference between the students in both the experimental and control groups. Since the difference scores between the pre-test scores and post-test scores of the students in the experimental group were in favour of negative ranks (final measurement), it was concluded that the games played with the experimental group increased the visual perception scores of the students. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the pre-test scores and post-test scores of the students in the control group in favour of the post-test. It was examined whether there was a difference between the post-test scores of the children in the experimental and control groups participating in the study. Frostig Visual Perception Scale; there was a significant difference between the post-test scores of the students in the experimental group and those in the control group. According to the results of the Mann-Whitney U test conducted to determine whether there was a significant difference between the post-test score medians, there was a statistically significant difference between the groups (U=12, p>.007). When the results were analysed, it was seen that the games played in the experimental and control groups created a significant difference between the post-test score medians of the students. In line with the analyses made, it shows that box games can be used as a tool that can provide information to the researcher about whether they increase the visual perception skill levels of 60-66 months old children.
