Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of the study is compare the intubation conditions of patients using C-MAC D-Blade video laryngoscope and Macintosh blade in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation for general anesthesia. Materials and Methods: 130 patients, who general anesthesia was applied and 65 of whom were intubated with Macintosh blade, 65 of whom were intubated with C-MAC D-Blade video laryngoscope, were included the study. Patients' age, gender, ASA score, height, weight, BMI (body mass index) and neck circumference were recorded. EGRI scores were calculated by recording whether patients had mouth opening, thyromental distance, Mallampati score, neck movement, ability to prognath and history of difficult intubation. Systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure and heart rate values were recorded before the induction, before laryngoscopy, 1 min, 3 min and 5 min after intubation. Intubation time, number of attempts, C-L score and complication-trauma status were recorded. C-MAC D-Blade group named Group VL, Macintosh group named Group M. Results: In terms of hemodynamic response, 1st minute heart rate in Group VL was significantly lower than Group M. Other hemodynamic parameters were similar in the two groups. In terms of glottic appearance, better results were obtained in Group VL than Group M. The proportion of patients intubated at the first attempt in Group VL was significantly higher than Group M. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of intubation time. The two groups were similar in terms of complication-trauma status. Conclusion: In cases, endotracheal intubation will be applied for general anesthesia, because of angled blade, C-MAC D-Blade Video laryngoscope provides a better glottic appearance. Therefore, it was concluded that C-MAC D-Blade video laryngoscope is superior to the Macintosh blade for laryngoscopy.
