A research on the effects of the leukemia treatment on the self- esteem, anxiety and depression levels of the adolescents and the adults

In this research, the effects of leukemia treatment on self-esteem, anxiety and depression of adolescents and adults are investigated. The sample of this research is 60 people, 30 of them are adolescents and 30 of them are adults. Comparison group includes 309 people who have not treated for leukemia, moreover this group includes 72 adolescents and 237 adults. In this investigation the level of self-esteem, anxiety and depression levels of participators are interpreted. For this purpose; Rosenberg Self Esteem Test, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory test and Beck Depression test are used. In the result of analysis, adolescents who had treated for leukemia, are less self-esteem, more anxious and depressive in comparison to adolescents and adults who had not treated for leukemia. Moreover, the adults who had treated for leukemia, are also less self-esteem, more anxious and depressive in comparison to individuals who had not treated for leukemia. When the results are interpreted; self esteem, anxiety and depression can be related with leukemia treatment. The findings are discussed in the light of literature.
