Abstract (EN)
Methabolic sydrom (MetS) is charactirized with abdominal obesity, dislipidemia, hypertension, insulin resistance (along with or without diabetus mellitus or glucose intolerance), microalbuminonemia, and prothrombic situation. Both obesity and MetS is accepted to be a chronic inflammatory situation. The laying cause behind the pathogenesis of MetS is metabolic products emerging from adipose tissue caused by abdominal obesity, along with hormons and prothrombic responses emerges from cytokines interaction. There are not enough studies expresses interactions between calprotection and MetS. The goal of this study is to investigate interactions between calprotectin levels, TNF-α , IL-6, hsCRP, insulin resistance, and lipid profiles for MetS and obesity, and hence to contribute to diagnose, following and treatment of the disease. 115 people were included to this study as 40 MetS, 40 obese and 35 healty control. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, SBP (mmHg), DBP (mmHg), OGTT, fasting glocuose level, HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL-K, HDL-K , trigliserid, insulin, HOMA-IR, hemogram and hs-CRP were measured. Elisa method was used to measure serum calprotectin, TNF-α and IL-6. Statistical analysis was done by uisng SPSS for Windows version 22.0 packet program, and P<0.05 was accepted as significant meaning. There was significant difference for all three groups in terms of calprotectin, TNF-α, IL-6, hs-CRP inflammatory markers. P values were 0.001 for Calprotectin, IL-6 and hs-CRP. P value was 0.009 for IL-6 levels. There was significant difference on calprotectin, TNF-α, IL-6, hs-CRP levels for MetS and control groups; obese and control groups. There was no significant difference between MetS and obese group. There was not any correletion between calprotectin and MetS diognostic markers, which are HDL-K, and TG levels (p> 0.05). However, there was a significant correlation between BMI, waist circumference, HOMA, TNF-α, IL-6, hs-CRP, SBP and DBP. As a reulst, calprotectin increases paralle to the BMI elevation in obesity and MetS. Low HDL-K and elevated TG levels, as MetS diagnostic criteria, does not have any influence on calprotectin levels. Increased BMI, İnsulin resistance and inflammation markers because of Obesity and MetS may be the reason of elevated calprotection levels. Key Words: Calprotectin, Metabolic Syndrome, TNF-α, IL-6, hs-CRP
