Approach of Mevdudi to people of the book in the explanation of Tefhim Al-Kitab

The concept of People of the Book refers to people who possess a divine book. In the Quran, this concept is generally mentioned in the verses mentioned from Jews and Christians. The Qur'an mentions the positive aspects of People of the Book in some verses, and in some verses, it harshly criticizes the wrong attitudes of Jews and Christians. It is even more important to know the religions on earth in today's world, where the interaction between religions is very high. The explanations that Mevdudi, one of the 20th century counselors, brought to the verses about Jews and Christians in his work called Tefhim al-Kitab are very important in this context. In his exegesis, Mevdudi, who aims to find solutions to the problems of the century we live in, brought explanations by prioritizing their reflection in the verses. This study was limited to the views of Mevdudi about People of the Book, Mevdudi's approach to this issue was tried to be conveyed in general terms. Our study consists of introduction, three parts and conclusion parts. The introduction consists of the introduction of our thesis and general information about Mevdudi. In the first part, the comments of Mevdudi about the history and sources of Jews and Christians were examined and their comments were tried to be explained. The second part is the explanations made by Mevdudi to verses that talk about the beliefs and morals of Jews and Christians. The positive and negative aspects of the Jews and Christians are tried to be explained. In the third chapter, the comments of Mevdudi brought to the verses about the relations between the Muslims and the People of the Book.
