The effect of internet use in pediatric patients with migraine and tension-TYPE headaches and the evaluation of the diseases

Introduction and Aim: In our study was related to the clinical properties pediatric patients with migraine or tension-type headache and was aimed to investigate the usage of internet features. Materials and Methods: The study was included the pediatric patients with migraine headache (103) or tension headache (97). The main characteristics ofthe pain and the features of internet usage were investigated and also compared with appropriate statistical methods. Findings: 119 patients were female, 81 were male and the mean age was 147.3 ± 36.2 months. The hereditary of the headachewhich also comes from the history of familyin the migraine group was 56% and the most frequent griavance accompanying these headaches were light and sound sensitivity. Odor sensitivityin migraine group was significantly higher than tension-type headache group. 96.1 percentage of the patients in migraine group had some trigger factors and the highest ratio of the car sickness was determined in migraine group comparatively tension-type headache group. 97.5 percentage of the patients had computer at home and 91% of them had Internet access and 90% of them were using the Internet on a daily basis. The daily usage ofinternet within 2 hours predisposed "internet addiction" much more than the usage less than 1 hour on a daily basis. The six ofthe patients had (2 of themwith migraine headache, 4 of them with tension-type headache) Internet addiction(%6). The result:Genetic predisposition, as well as triggering migraine and tension-type headache in children, is effective and the environmental impactionwith a development of others are frankly important factors in considering the usage of the Internet.
