Muhammed Et-Tâhir B. Ashûr (1879-1973) and his place in hadith science (tradition of the Muhammad)

At this research, the subject of "Muhammad al-Tâhir b. Âshûr and His Place in Hadith" has been studied. Ibn Âshur (1879-1973) was one of the prominent scholars lived during the problematic times in Tunisia at the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. At his lifetime of 94 years, he had been a Maliki judge, Sheikh al-Islam (Grand Mufti), Rektor of Zaytuniya University in Tunisia. In addition to this, he was a reformist and has written books on Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic Language, He has written al-Nazaru'l-Fasîh a commentary on Bukhari's Sahîh, and Kashf al-Mughatta, a commentary on Malik's Muwatta and has written many articles on the Prophet and hadith science. With this research, departing from his works, his scholarly capacity has been proven. At introduction section of this research, political, economic and scientific conditions of Tunisia of his time has been studied. At the first chapter, his life, scholarly character and his works have been studied. At the second chapter, his perception of the prophet, his views on hadith and sunna, classification of sunna about their religiously binding side, examples of criticism of text and chain of narrators of hadiths and his commentary activities on hadiths have also been studied.
