He was one of the most prominent ney players and composers of 19th century with numerous vocal and instrumental compositions. Howewer, he is best known for his instrumental compositions. In this study, ten instrumental compositions of the composer are analysed in terms of makam and form. Neyzen Yusuf Paşa has a very solid understanding of makam system and was able to reflect that on his compositions. In terms of form, we see that he utilized devrikebir rhythmic cycle (usûl) in his peşrev compositions and aksak semai rhythmic cycle (usûl) in his saz semai compositions. Analyses of peşrev compositions are based on one hane and teslim, whereas the analyses of saz semaisi compositions are based on four hane and teslim. Dügâh Peşrev, as an exception, is analysed based on its four hanes and its teslim and Dârülelhan Külliyatı is chosen as the reliable source for the composition and fort he other compositions TRT Archives is chosen as the reliable source. Along with the analyses of his work , this study also contains the life of Neyzen Yusuf Paşa and his status as a ney player.
