The sdudy of teacher job satisfiction throgh varios variables

This research is conducted to investigate the work satisfaction of state school teachers. The study group consists of teachers from Bakirkoy, Bagcilar, Zeytinburnu, and Bahcelievler neighborhoods of Istanbul in the 2009-2010 school year. In selection of the teachers, random sampling method was applied. At the end of the research two hundred teachers (105 male and 95 female) were surveyed about their job satisfaction.In these surveys, teachers were asked personal questions first. In the second part, questions about their colleagues, seniors, pay, actual work, work conditions, team and management styles, working hours, job security were addressed and Neuberger?s job satisfaction scale was applied to these results. After calculating the frequencies and the percentages about the general structure of the group; Anova, Post Ad-Hoc LSD, Independent Group T-Test, Kruskal Wallis, Post-Hoc-Tamhane, Non-Parametric Mann Whitney-U test were used to observe whether job satisfactions changes depending on the variables used. Through this research, job of satisfaction of teachers from different backgrounds such as gender, age, education level, school studied, school worked, rank at the job, rank and work conditions at the school worked, marital status, parenthood, spouse?s job, the house lived in and personal income.As a result, all teachers were found to be satisfied in terms of job security and hours. In addition, teachers are also satisfied with the activities that are directly related to their job; however, they were found to be less satisfied with indirect activities. The most important variables in job satisfaction were identified as follow, fair treatment, transparent and humanly treatment of the management, and respect for their work. The least important internal factors were found as the ability of working independently, and having competent managers. It was also discovered that there were no single factor that all teachers were happy about.Finally, most of the research findings prove that teachers have high satisfaction levels. However, even in the areas that the teachers are highly satisfied, they are still not as satisfied as they would expect to be.Key Words: Job satisfaction, Teacher, Education
