Historical subject, place, and people in the stories of Ömer Seyfetti̇n

Ömer Seyfettin, one of the leading writers of small storytelling in terms of the history of Turkish literature, has succeeded in showing his skill in translating the spoken language in his texts. Ömer Seyfettin's stories are the most read with appreciation among almost all students in the basic education age. Ömer Seyfettin's stories included different types of heroes and people from all walks of life in the subjects that shed light on history, legends, epics, and tales. He discussed the cultures of various regions and the social distortions experienced by society in a humorous way. In particular, he emphasized national values, nation and language awareness in his stories. The aim of this study is to identify and put forward historical subjects, place sand people in Ömer Seyfettin's stories. In the first part of the research, the life of the author, his literary environment, his works and his views on his works are discussed. In the second part, the wars, expeditions and various celebrations in the stories are handled under the title of historical subjects; the regions, palaces, barracks are handled under the title of place; sultans, grand viziers, soldiers, and public handled under the title of people. In the conclusion part of the study, evaluations were made according to the findings. Key Words : Professor Dr. Selma BAŞ
