Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research; to determine the prevalence of traditional peer bullying and cyber bullying, to determine whether parental attitude, traditional peer bullying and cyberbullying levels differ in terms of some variables, and to reveal differences in parental attitude levels over traditional peer bullying and victimization and cyberbullying and victimization. The universe of the research was conducted with 303 students studying in the grades 5,6,7 and 8 in Hasan Şadoğlu Secondary School in Maltepe district of Istanbul. A total of 4 forms were given to the students who participated in the study: Parent Attitude Scale (PAS), Traditional Peer Bullying Scale, Cyber Bullying Scale and Socio-demographic Information Form. In this study, the differences between perceived parental attitude, traditional bullying and victimization and cyberbullying and virtual bullying were evaluated in terms of variables related to sociodemographic, internet use and family life. In addition, the predictors of traditional and cyberbullying and victimization by parental attitudes were discussed in the study. According to the findings, gender, smart income level, parental education level, adolescents sharing social problems with their parents, the purpose of internet use, the time spent by the parents, parental control in internet usage and the use of child filter in internet access, perceived parental attitudes, traditional bullying, cyberbullying and victimization differed significantly. The results of the predictive relationship, both traditional and cyberbullying and victimization were found to be significantly predicted by perceived authoritarian parental attitude. It predicts the higher levels of cyberbullying and victimization and traditional bullying victimization of adolescents with higher perceived authoritarian parental attitudes. However, the higher level of traditional bullying of students is explained by the lower level of perceived democratic parental attitude. It can be seen that the results obtained in this study are related to parental attitudes, parents' habits and preferences about internet use, and students' variables related to internet use with traditional and cyberbullying dimensions. In this study, it can be thought that parents should be involved in the prevention of bullying and victimization that are common in schools and virtual environments. The research can be repeated with the students who are studying at different gade levels with advanced studies.
