Analyzing the relation between the attitude of secondary school teachers' towards the undesirable student manners and teaching satisfaction

The aim of this research is studying the attitudes of secondary school teachers for unwanted student behaviors according to some variables and correlate them with their level of job satisfaction. This is a quantitative research which has been carried out by the relational screening model. The secondary school teachers who are staffed in European Side of İstanbul in 2012 - 2013 academic year set the population of the research. Sample of the research consists of totally 15 schools and 216 secondary school staffed teachers which have been chosen from Bakırköy, Fatih and Zeytinburnu districts using multiphase sampling method. Data have been gathered by using a personal information form including five questions for demographic attributes; a five point likert scale developed by Tanhan and Şentürk (2011) which has sixteen items and two sub-dimensions (affective and behavioral) called "The Scale of the Attitudes of the Teacher for the Unwanted Student Behavior in the Class"; and "Teaching Satisfaction Scale" a five point likert scale which has five points that has been developed by Ho, C. L. and Au, W. T. in 2006 and been adapted to Turkish form by Satıcı and Kayış in 2011. Analysis of data have been performed by "SPSS for Windows ver: 11,5" program. Descriptive frequency and percentage distribution of the teachers' demographic attributes have been taken and then x, ss, x Sh values have been stated in order to get the total point of the scale. From comparative analysis non-parametric techniques have been used for those which have not normal distribution (n<30); and parametric analysis techniques have been used for those which have normal distribution. Significance level of the data analysed have been tested as .05 and the other significance levels have also been determined.According to the findings acquired it has been stated that teachers' attitudes for the unwanted student behavior indicates a statistical significance in a relation to the variables as gender, age and seniority. However, education level and incumbency have not made a significant difference. It has also been indicated that there has not been a statistically significant relationship between points in the results of Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis which have been conducted to correlate secondary school teachers' attitudes for unwanted student behaviors with teaching satisfaction.
