Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted as an observational-analytical, cross-sectional study, including the relationship between eating habits, body fat ratio and insulin resistance, by examining the anthropometric measurements, body fat ratios and analysis data of people aged 18-65 who applied to a private diet clinic and were diagnosed with insulin resistance. The people to be included in the research were informed in detail about the research before participating in the research and were made to sign a consent form to protect their rights. The data in the study was collected between July 2022 and November 2023. Participants' blood tests (including blood glucose, blood insulin or insulin resistance results) were included in the study. A face-to-face survey was conducted on the participants, and anthropometric measurements (height, weight and waist circumference) were taken at the diet center. As a result, in our study, it was observed that individuals with high insulin resistance had high body fat rates and thickened waist circumferences. Our study consists of 52 participants, 45 women and 7 men. The average age of the study group is 34.27±11.02 years. 26.9% (14 people) of the participants had a BMI value of <30.0 kg/m2 and 73.1% (38 people) had a BMI value of ≥30.0 kg/m2. The average weight of the participants was 87.06±17.05 kg, the average height was 161.31±7.51 cm, the average BMI was 33.42±5.87 (kg/m2), the average waist circumference was 97.41±3.40 cm, The average body fat mass is 38.16±11.38 kg and the average body fat ratio is 43.19±6.50%. It has been determined that in the presence of insulin resistance, BMI values, body fat ratio and waist circumference are high. There is a very strong relationship between obesity and insulin resistance. It was determined that as BMI values increased, HbA1c and waist circumference values increased. No statistically significant value was found between HOMA-IR and body fat percentage values. Key Words: Diabetes, HOMA-IR, Insulin resistance, Obesity, Body fat ratio.
