Abstract (EN)
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive disease. In our country, the life quality questionnaires based on this disease are not common. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and reliability of Turkish version of PDQ-39; moreover, to make PDQ-39 auseable questionnaire in measurement ofParkinson's patients' life quality. The study included 100 patients, both women and men, who were diagnosed with PD in Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty Hospital and Koc University Hospital. Patients were participated in PDQ-39, Parkinson's Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire (PDQLQ), Short Form-36 (SF-36), Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and Hoehn-Yahr Scale (H&Y) to review the life quality. According to the study results, excluding 30th article of the questionnaire, reliability of Turkish PDQ-39 is found to be quite high and consistent over time. There is a positive correlation between PDQ-39 scale results and H&Y value, and negative correlations between PDQ-39 value and UPDRS, PDQLQ, SF-36 scale results.According to the t-test results which is applied for below 27% and above 27% variable of PDQ-39 total and factor scale average, difference of the group averages is statistically significant. In subgroups of PDQ-39 questionnaire, mobility, emotional well-being and physical disability averages in t test are statistically significant according to gender. Daily living activity, stigma, social support, and cognition and communication scores according to gender in subgroups are not statistically significant. According to Barlett test, there is a correlation between the variables included factor analysis. Sample size of the research is adequate to apply factor analysis. After all, excluding one article from the questionnaire, it is decided that the Turkish version of PDQ-39 is a scale that could be used trustfully to measure the life quality of Parkinson's patients. Key words: Validation, Reliability, Parkinson's Disease, PDQ-39, Life Quality
