This study has been carried out with the aim of evaluating the protein powder and beverage consumption of individuals by conducting a survey between May 2017 - January 2018 among 100 individuals in Istanbul who use protein powders as supplement. Protein intake, which exceeds the recommended daily protein levels, is commonly used for athletes. However, considering the diversity of existing protein types, the number of individuals who are aware of the benefits of consuming one type of protein against another is relatively low. With this study, it has been aimed to make suggestions with a sense of responsibility both to individuals who are interested in sports in their daily life and to ones who professionally work out; and to define and analyze the fundamental factors. The evaluation of proteins is a key element in determining the convenience and the quantity in the athlete's diet. In our study, protein powders and beverages which have come into our lives with the gradually developing technology have been discussed along with a comprehensive review of protein resources. In the section of our study where a research has been made on the individuals working out; a survey form has been used which has been created by benefiting from previous scientific studies that have been carried out with the aim of determining the general information, dietary habits and protein powder consumption status of individuals who consume protein powders or beverages. Energy and nutritional elements taken daily have been analyzed by using the "Computer Assisted Nutrition Program, Nutritional Information Systems (BEBIS 6.1)" which is developed for Turkey. SPSS 23 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) statistical package have been used for the statistical analysis of the findings which have been obtained as a result of the research. The difference between the distribution of the observed frequencies of individuals who are in the different groups specified in the hypothesis has been examined through chi-square (χ2) test. Significance levels of the difference between the averages of data which show normal distribution have been examined through independent samples t test for two groups and through single direction variance analysis for more than two groups.
