Abstract (EN)

This study was descriptive research that was conducted to examine about relations between suicide probability and reasons for living in psychiatric inpatient. This research's process was February- May 2016 and it was carried out in Atatürk training and research hospital, Hacettepe University Hospitals and Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital. The study's sample consisted of 192 psychiatric inpatient who approved to participate in the study. Data were obtained from Personal Knowledge Form, Suicide Probability Scale (SPS), The Reasons for Living Inventory (RLF), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Informed Consent Form. IBM SPSS 21.0 package was used when it's analyzing to data's point, percentage, frequency, median, mean, standard deviation, Kruskal Wallis H and Mann Whitney U Test, correlation ans stepwise regression. Signifance level was accepted as p<0.05. The study result showed that psychiatric inpatients who had high suicide probability, had low reasons for living and high depression levels. The stduy analyses pointed out that depression, suicide ideation, reasons for living, maltreating, education level, income state and age are predictive variables for suicide probability (F= 61.125; p<0.001). In this study, it is recommended that psychiatric inpatients may be observed in accordance with suicide risk and suicide protect factors for prevent suicide.
