Qira'at of the companions and its resource value

The phenomenon of qira'at took its place in Islamic sciences in early period, and it has maintained its vividness in the agenda until today. One of the primary factors that ensures this is that the different aspects that qira'ats embody can be appropriate sources. The adventure of the Qira'ats starting with the Prophet became an issue staying on the agenda during companions, tâbiîn and subsequent generations. In addition to this, qira'ats have become one of the issues that has not fallen down from the agenda of Islamic scholars since the first period in order that the Qur'an could be understood. Qira'ats have led to the development of some different reactions not only in Islamic world but also outside it. In fact, this discipline, in addition to being a source for different sciences such as tafsir, kalam, fiqh, and Arabic language, requires each researcher working in the field to deal with different aspects of reading to understand the verses. In some studies, either the linguistic phenomenon or the tafsir dimension of the Companions' qira'ats are handled with a fragmentary approach. In this study, the issue of the source of the Companions' qira'ats under different titles was tried to be brought to the fore, by displaying a general approach in order to reflect the integrity of the subject, instead of the fragmentary approach that only deals with the language and tafsir dimension of the qira'ats. Negative criticisms made against qira'ats outside the Islamic world were not addressed with the idea that they would not constitute the main subject of the study and that it would not go out of the way of the subject; and the issue was left to the relevant fields of study. In order that the Qur'an should be understood in the Quraysh language, and it is known that that different dialects around the language were included in this dialect until a certain period. With the spread of writing and reading culture in the following periods, the Mushaf (the Qur'an in book form) was written, reproduced and read in a single dialect. Just as the Qur'an does not contain any contradictions because it is based on revelation, the aspects of qira'at that try to make sense of it have also been far from inconsistency. Just as the Companions had their readings corrected by the Prophet and put them on a solid ground, the generations of that time transferred these qira'ats to the next generations within the framework of different methods they developed in accordance with the Mushaf and the Arabic language rules. In this direction, over time, groups and schools emerged around the Companions reading.
