Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to reveal the reflections of shamanist images on the art of painting through artist works. Although shamanism is effective in the cultures of societies with its powerful and traditional elements that have universal and local rituals in the world, it is seen that it also has strong effects on art. The conceptual framework of shamanism has been established by considering the issue in depth. Shamanism is a thought system that includes the concepts of Animistic and Initiation. It is accepted that the birth of shamanism has come from the pre-Christ periods to the present day. Shamanism has been seen in South and North America, Indonesia, Indigenous Australians, and Southeast Asia, Tibet, China and Japan. Shamanism is considered to be of North Asian and Central Asian origin. Shamanism is a system of thought that communicate with gods and spirits. After the shaman candidate enters the state of trance and learns the secret knowledge of some shaman techniques, he/shebecomes secret at the stage called esrime (initiatic death) and completes his/her shaman education. According to the traditions of the society, a shaman is a person who can reach the layers of the sky with spirits like a guide, who can go underground, can see the other realms, and at the same time speak to gods or spirits, and has qualified competence. The shaman's job is to help people face difficulties they cannot cope with. The shamanic techniques he/she learns make the shaman powerful. In this way, the Shaman gains an identity that people resort to. In this study, the artists who directly or indirectly refer and interact with Shamanism in visual art works were investigated through the method of art analysis. Visual artists who use shamanism as an imagination were identified and their works were examined, and then the paintings of the artists with aesthetic interpretations, the way they were described and presented with the artist's personal approach, was tried to be explained by the creative influence of shamanist images in the art of painting. As a result, Shamanism is interpreted with an innovative Esoteric perspective with the definition of Neo Shamanism in Western-centered art style. In this context, artists and works of Joska Soos, Pablo Amaringo, Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paikay, Norwal Marrisseau, Pat Stacy, Susan Seddon Baulet, Nil Yalter, Timofei Stepanov, Gilah Yelin Hirsch were examined. It is seen that there are direct or indirect shamanist influences in the works of the artists in contemporary Turkish art. These artists were determined as Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Neşet Günal, Gencay Kasapçı, Süleyman Saim Tekcan, Can Göknil, Hüsamettin Koçan, Rauf Tuncer, Hasan Kıran, Ramazan Can and it was determined that a traditional reflection of Shamanism culture was interpreted in the works of the artists.
