War and patriarchal violence: Singal's attack experiences of Yazidis women

Yazidis had become a target to violence for centuries due to exclusionary policies. Yazidis were misunderstood since they were a closed society and they hadn't had any written history. The violence had been experienced was legitimated because they were known as "devil worshippers". Kidnapping and raping women are types of violence that can be seen almost in every assault against Yazidis. The wars caused by patriarchal structure especially the women's exposure to violence is inevitable. Yazidi women were exposed to a unique violence in Şingal, where IS assault calling "Last Farman" happened in 2014. Therefore, the way Yazidi women give meaning to the violence offers them two other identities of "being Yazidi" and "being women" had been experienced makes an important point for this thesis.
