Investigation of the internet addiction level of students in the faculty of sports sciences in terms of different variables

Today, it is possible to see that rapidly developing technology has entered every stage of our lives, and that everything is done faster and simpler than in the past, in the internet environment. In today's world, where both the internet and technology are in everyone's pockets with smart phones, we are using the opportunities offered by technology in many fields, which are used by people of all ages and professions. It is an inevitable result that the internet, which has such an impact on our lives and increases its effectiveness day by day, will affect every stage of our lives. Therefore, the widespread use of the internet and its unconscious use by the society can bring many negative consequences. This research is a descriptive study to examine the internet addiction levels of students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences in terms of different variables. The population of the research consists of students studying at the faculty of sports sciences of different universities, and the sample group consists of 541 (317 Female, 224 Male) students selected on a voluntary basis. The Internet Addiction Scale, which was developed by Young (1998) and adapted into Turkish by Bayraktar (2001), was used as a data collection tool in the research. In the analysis of the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests were used by using SPSS 26.0 package program, using percentage and frequency. As a result of the research, it was found that the vast majority of them did not show any signs of internet addiction, there was no difference in terms of age, gender, department, family income and the type of high school they studied, while the internet addiction levels of the third graders were lower and those with a low grade point average also had lower internet addiction. conclusion has been reached.
