Examination of the relationship between emotions and personal characteristics of teachers who do and do not sport

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the emotions and personality traits of teachers who do and do not do sports. In this study, a descriptive (screening) research model based on quantitative observation was used. The sample of the research consists of 978 teachers working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the provinces of Ankara, Keçiören, Çankaya, Yenimahalle, Mamak and Altındağ in the 2021-2022 Academic Year In order to measure the differentiation of the teachers participating in the study on the teacher emotions of sports, Frenzel et al. the "Teacher Emotions Scale" developed by (2016) and adapted to Turkish by Alpaslan and Ulubey (2017) and the "Basic Personality Traits Scale" developed by Gençöz and Öncül (2012) on the basis of the Big-5 theory and all stages of which have been adapted to Turkish culture have been used to determine personality traits. Independent sample T-test, Pearson Correlation test, one-way analysis of variance (Anova) test, Tukey post hoc test and Tamhane's post hoc test were applied in the analyses. In the current research, the personality traits and emotional states of teachers who play sports and do not have been examined, and from the personality traits sub-dimensions according to the gender variable in the negative valence sub-dimension; from all the personality traits sub-dimensions according to the age variable and teacher emotions sub-dimensions of pleasure, anger sub-dimensions; from all the personality traits subdimensions according to the marital status variable and all the teacher emotions sub-dimensions; according to the "number of years in the profession variable", personality traits are in all sub-dimensions and in all subdimensions of teacher emotions; according to the regular sports activity variable, personality traits subdimensions include conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness to experience sub-dimensions and pleasure subdimension of teacher emotions sub-dimensions; according to the number of days a week variable, personality traits sub-dimensions include extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness to experience, negative valence sub-dimensions and pleasure sub-dimensions of teacher emotions; according to the variable of what kind of sports do you do, it is seen that there is a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of conscientiousness, agreeableness, openness to experience, negative valence, and pleasure sub-dimensions from the sub-dimensions of teacher emotions, the relationship between teachers' personality traits and emotional states, personality traits and emotional states according to gender variable. It has been concluded that there is a relationship between teachers' personality traits and emotional states, according to the variable of the relationship between the teachers and the state of doing regular sports. This study, which is applied to teachers working in Ankara, can be applied to teachers working in other provinces and more generalized results can be reached in its effect on teachers.
