التيارات الحديثة في الرواية السورية (١٩٤٦–١٩٦٧)

This paper deals with the modern Syrian novel between the post-independence period (1946) and the Arab-Israeli war (1967). For this reason, it focused on elite novels representing the movements that emerged in the literary scene of the period. In this study, the situation of this period and its effects on modern Syrian literature in later stages, the effects of political and social conditions of Syria on the novelist of Syria were examined. The study consists of two parts. In the introduction, the importance of the study, its aims, methodology and boundaries have been discussed and the political history of modern Syria in the 20th century has been mentioned with a general view. The first part of the study consists of three main topics. In the first chapter, factors that prepared the emergence of Modern Syrian novel, press and translation movements in the second half of the nineteenth century and early 20th century, scientific institutions and universities were discussed. In the second chapter, the emergence of the Syrian novel, the developments of literary movements in Syria in general and particularly important aspect of the novel were set forth with an emphasis on some of the characters. In the third and last chapter, the novels of the historical novel which emerged in the thirties of the twentieth century and the novels of Marouf Arnaout, the representative of this movement, romanticism in the novel and the representative of this movement novelist Shakib Jabri's novels were examined. In the second part of the study, by focusing on the period between the independence period and the Israeli war, the influence and the nature of the period on the Syrian novelists were discussed. Also information about the number and type of novels written in this period and the conditions affecting them were examined. The main currents of the contemporary Syrian novel such as Realism, Symbolism, Existentialism and Modernism, which emerged during this period were discussed and some important novels representing these movements were focused on. In the following period, focused on some important novels representing open and influential currents such as "Macabateb Al Gharam" that represents the realism movement, "el-Mesabihul-zurk" that represents the socialize current, "fil menfa" that represents the symbolism and "Şitau bahrin yabıs" that represents the new current. In the study conducted on Modern Syrian novels, which can be reached during the study period, significant results have been reached according to the purpose of the study.
