Christianity in the commentary of Taberî

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the thoughts about Christianity and Christians in the commentary "Câmiu'l-Beyân an Te'vîli Âyi'l-Kur'an" written by the exegete Taberî. Primarily, the verses about the topics related to Christianity are mentioned and the words that are considered important in these verses are emphasized. Then, Taberî's views and evaluations on the subject discussed are determined. In addition, the similarities and differences are tried to be revealed by including the opinions of other commentators and quotations from the Christian holy books where deemed necessary. The study consists of an introduction and three main parts. In the introduction part of the study, general information about the subject, purpose, limits, method and sources of the study is given. Afterwards, the information about Abu Jafar Muhammad b. Cerir et-Taberî's life, scientific personality, works and commentary is presented. In the first part of the study, Hz. Mary and St. Jesus has been dealt with separately according to Taberî's interpretation. In the second part of the study, Hz. The Fate of Jesus is handled. In this part, The death of Hz. Jesus, his ref', his descent and his Messiahship, the Qur'an, the Bibles and the interpretation of Taberî have been studied in a comparative way. In the third part of the study, the criticism of Christianity in Taberî's commentary is mentioned.
