The discussion of decomposition in historical process in context of art and visual comments

The aim of the thesis named ?The Discussion of Decomposition in Historical Process in Context of Art And Visual Comments? is the examination of the transmutation of putrefaction into artistic language or concept and the interpretation of the putrefaction process. In line with this purpose, the reflections of putrefaction on the history of art have been researched. Putrefaction is examined by taking into consideration the movements, artisans and works of art, with which stylistic expressions the putrefaction on art proceeds is indicated in the context of reality phenomenon. Research covers the concept of putrefaction and the death (disappearance) which is the connotation of the concept.Due to the importance of the putrefaction process occurring in nature, the process was examined both theoretically and its results were evaluated by experiencing it in practices. In the first part, concept of putrefaction was defined and types of putrefaction were explained with their physical and chemical mutations. The impacts of putrefaction on objects and living creatures were examined and their processes were indicated visually. By taking into consideration the metamorphosis of the putrefaction according to the features of living and non ? living creatures, the process of the putrefaction from its first stage to the final stage was observed and the vanishing stage of the putrefaction with some other stages were adapted into practices.In the history of art, comments on death and putrefaction concept are seen on studies that indicate the short span of life and its vulnerability by dead nature drawings in the 16th and 17th century. For example; in the art work named ?Isa in cemetery? of Hans Holbein who lived in the Renaissance Period, the death was indicated by all its reality. Experimental studies were performed in the art of 20th century with the development of new opportunities. At the same time information about the putrefaction mutations was shared in studies.Modern art movements brought the matters such as death and putrefaction with the horrible and ugly one as well as with the beautiful one into the agenda. Studies whose subjects are death and putrefaction are observed in expressionism, surrealism, cubism, dada, pop art and Fluxus. Especially in Fluxus which is one of the most effective movement of the 20th century, concepts of putrefaction and its process became the subject of the art with the conceptual trend that developed after 1960s. For example; in the performances performed by Joseph Beuys, the putrefaction began to gain operability on process basis.In the practices of the artist, changing nature and putrefaction resulting in death formed the intellectual basis of the works. In the video, photography, installation and canvas drawing practices, works reflecting the putrefaction process were performed. Deformation of natural and artificial objects against the nature, their mutations, and putrefaction processes of some living organisms (bugs, meat pieces, animal eye etc.) were reflected on the practices.Key Words:1.Putrefaction2.Death3.Process4.Art5.Drawing
