Abstract (EN)

Chemical wastes, flavorings, and colorants threaten the health of other living things, especially human health when mixed with drinking water. Tartrazine is a synthetic colorant belonging to the azo dyestuff group and is an additive used in packaged foods, soft drinks, and many more. Effective and environmentally friendly methods are required to remove this dyestuff, which threatens our health by mixing with the environment and drinking water. Among the many degradation methods in literature, the most effective ones are based on removal by ultraviolet irradiation or different extraction techniques or adsorption. This study is based on the use of a combined system of ultraviolet irradiation, ultrasonic sound and H2O2 to remove tartrazine from water. High efficiency was obtained with the UV/ H2O2 / Ultrasonic assisted combined degradation system method, since the ultraviolet and ultrasonication methods did not achieve the expected efficiency in the pre-trial studies. In 3D graphics, it has been shown that H2O2 is more effective with the combination of these three systems. In this degradation combined system, the vibration of ultrasonic sound waves triggers the formation of HO radicals and the degradation process with ultraviolet rays and provides high efficiency and color removal. The Response Surface Method (RSM) is a statistical modeling technique that analyzes the fit of variable parameters, used to establish and optimize the experimental process. Optimization of this new method for the removal of tartrazine from waters by RSM has been achieved and estimated values have been determined and compared with the closeness of the estimated values to the experimental values. ANOVA test was performed to evaluate the reliability of the process. F and p values were obtained as 67.77 and <0.0001, respectively. R2 and adjusted R2 were obtained as 0.9839 and 0.9694, respectively. According to the central composite design of the response surface method, tartrazine was removed by 71.93% Amplitude, 90 minutes treatment time and 90.96% in 10 mM H2O2 in the model applied.
