Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT The Investigation of Vestibular Functions of Adult Patients Who Have Unilateral and Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss Detoriations in cochlea and auditory nerve might effect vestibular labyrinth. The purpose of our study is to evaluate vestibular functions on adults having sensorineural hearing loss. 60 voluntary humans has participated the study of which is composed of 20 subjects having S/N type of unilateral hearing loss, 20 subjects having bilateral S/N hearing loss, and 20 subject shaving normal hearing. It has been observed that there has been no significant difference in cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (cVEMP) and ocular VEMP (oVEMP) tests, in right and left cVEMP latency and in cVEMP test right-left P1-N1 amplitude (P>0.05). Statistically, there was significant difference between groups in left P1-N1 amplitude differences in oVEMP test (P<0.05). Statistically, there hasn't been observe dany significant difference in the value of mean gain and asymmetry ratio in VHIT (P>0.05). There was no statistically differences between groups in terms of the mean gain value of right-left anterior and posterior semicircular canals and anterior semicircular canal asymmetry ratio (P<0.05). There was no statistically differences between groups in terms of rigt and left posterior semicircular canals asymmetry ratio. Statistically significant differences were found between groups in saccade tests, the percentage of accuracy of left and right view on left eye and in pursuit test with 0.2 Hz, the right view asymmetry ratio and in optokinetic test, the gain of right view on right eye (P>0.05). There was statistically significant differences between groups in channel paresis in caloric tests (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant differences between groups in Dizziness Handicap Inventory (p>0.05). Statistically significant differences were found between groups in Short Form-36 (SF-36) general health parameter. There was no statistically significant differences between groups in another parameters of SF-36 (P>0.05). In our study, it has been detected that vestibular system functions in some adults, who have S/N hearing loss, are affected.
