Abstract (EN)

Today, as a result of globalization and diversified working conditions, various types of employee's attitudes and activities are observed. Motivation decay, lack of concentration at work and demonstration of harmful behavior to oneself or others can be described based on some causes. Burnout, low level of self-efficacy and the perception of social support are some of these causes. Work, profession, organization and demography related many parameters, that cause burnout, have been the subject of different researches. The Self-efficacy and social support perception of the employees can be considered within the context of personal traits and organizational characteristics that are among the main causes of burnout. The generation differences of employees influence the indications of burnout, self-efficacy and social support perceptions in different levels. These differences may cause to feel burnout, to have a negative effect on self-efficacy and a low level of the perception of social support. In this context the aim of my thesis is to identify the level of burnout, self-efficacy conviction and social support perceptions of academic staff in a foundation university of Turkey, and, by this way specify the influence intermediary role of social support perception in the relation between burnout and self-efficacy, and deduce the impact of generation differences for these results. The sampling of this study considers 211 academic staffs of a foundation university. The research is based on "Maslach Burnout" and "General Self-efficacy and Multi Dimentional Social Support" scales. The data obtained from the sampling has been analyzed by SPSS 22.0 program from standard variation, frequency, percentage distribution ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and SEM YEM üzerinden yapılan regresyon analizi ile veriler değerlendirilmiştir perspectives. According to the results, burnout and self-efficacy conviction has a negative inter-relation and this inter-relation can be observe in the sub-dimensions of burnout (p<0,05). According to the hierarchical regression model which is based on structural equality model, it was found that there was a significant negative effect between emotional burnout and self-efficacy, and there was a significant and positive effect between social support perception and self-efficacy(p<0,05). In addition, it is observed that the family subdimension of social support perception has a partial mediation role in the relationship between self-efficacy belief and emotional exhaustion. Finally, according to the ANOVA test which measures the intergenerational differences, it was seen that the emotional exhaustion score of the Y generation was the highest while the emotional burnout score of the baby boomers generation was the least. The Special person and friend sub-dimension of social support perception demonstrate significant differences between generations (p<0,05). While Y Generation is receiving highest support from special person sub-dimension, baby boomers generation is receiving the least. On the other hand, it is observed that the Y generation receives the most social support from the friend sub-dimension. Baby boomers generation receives social support from the friend sub-dimension (p <0.05).
