Theological and moral problems of the Muslims in the consumer culture

This study aims to examine the secular mental transformation of Muslims in the context of the nature of faith within the axis of secular mental transformation experienced during the Enlightenment period. Considering the integration of Islamic values, which are experienced as a social reality, into secular parameters, the necessity of questioning this issue in the axis of the concept of man Faith which expresses the Muslim world view will be understood more clearly. Our study is a literature review based on conceptual, theoretical and descriptive data. The research consists of three main sections. In the first chapter, the construction process of secular civilization, which started with the Enlightenment period, and the position of religion in the traditional-modern and post-modern periods are discussed. In the second part, the philosophical foundations of the modern economic system that sanctifies consumption and the cultural structure of consumer society are given. In the third chapter, the principles of consumption on the basis of the Qur'an and Sunnah and the process of integrating Islamic values into the consumption culture were criticized and the nature of faith in the secularized minds was questioned. The contradictions of the attitudes and behaviors of Muslims in the postmodern period with the holistic structure of faith presented in the Qur'an have been tried to be revealed.
