The sense of city in the poetry of Turgut Uyar

The poets could not remain insensitive to the innovations and problems that started with the urbanization process like the members of many other branches of art. In this respect, especially the Second New poets, all of whom were urbanized, wrote a lot. The implications of the city-human-civilization transition as a space for the sustainability of life can present a little more clearly the state of siege of the era that the Second New poem tries to reveal. In Turgut Uyar's poetry, one of the important names of the Second New, the city is one of the important spatial elements, just like his friends in the same movement. Uyar, in his poems mostly, based on himself, tells about the incompatibilities, sieges and depressions of the urban resistance in urban life. In Turgut Uyar's poetry, whose main theme is urban life and the encompassing effect of this life on individuals, the state of the individual in city and urban life is discussed together with concepts such as encirclement, non-communication, alienation and escape. With the alienation he falls into, the individual is almost a confused sleepwalker in the mass of material and spiritual objects all over the city, constantly in communication, busy with what is outside itself. Uyar thinks that the only way to overcome the overwhelming order he mentions is to demolish or rebuild the cities.
