The reasons of transiton to a multi-party system in Turkey

The most important common ground of westernization movements which begun in Tanzimat reform era in Ottomon Period was the problem of the state's rescue. This process burst into sight as a result of reforms in Ottomon Period, was crowned with the revolution of Republic which was carried out by the highbrows grown up in in this process. Political parties are a must for democracy. Transition to a multi-party system is one of the turning points for Turkish Republic which revealed its mission of a democtaric Republic. After the Second World War, the increase of democratization and liberalisation efforts due to the present conditions, and the beginning outbreaks of opponent movementsnin Republican People's Party and social sphere brought about the expectations of establishing a new part until the year 1945. After the Second World War, developments intrastate and abroad obliged the transition to a multi-party syste. 1940s are important for Turkey because of the World War and its effects. This is the period of dealing with the policies of Turkey's facing westwardly. By this way, Turkish Republic tried to adapt itself to this culture and automatically was integrated to the democratization movement. Thusly, after the Second World War, oppressive and dictator regimes vanished. Such that, the transition to a multi-party system became unavoidable for our country. The economic,social and political effects of the World Wars on society, also with the effect of developments in foreign policy carried out Turkish Republic's transition to a multi-party system in 1946.
